John Barbour was diagnosed with stage IV inoperable pancreatic cancer in late August 2011. Monica, John’s wife, was introduced to Sky Foundation by Dr. Carla Groh, her close friend and previous Sky Foundation board member. A conversation with Sheila, Founder and pancreatic cancer survivor, was soon to open up new doors.
Monica and her children realized pancreatic cancer touched so many more people than previously thought when they attended their first Sky fundraising event. It was that moment that they knew they needed to get involved with Sky. They wanted to share the hope Sky Foundation works towards every single day: the hope of progress being made for early detection tests and more effective treatments for pancreatic cancer than they had in 2011.
Monica is proud to be a part of the Sky family as a Governing Board member. She passionately shares the mission of Sky Foundation. Monica says:
“It is my privilege to serve on the Board with fellow dedicated members. We are all here because we are passionate to find an early detection and advance awareness of this dreadful disease.”
