President of Sky Foundation, Carol Quigley opened her beautiful home to our board members and some spectacular guests that have been involved with Sky from the beginning. Philip Philips, MD, PhD Karmanos Cancer Institute, spoke to the group about Early Detection Initiatives, the identification of New Onset of Diabetes in patients, the importance of getting annual scans for the identification of pancreatic cancer and neuroendocrine cancer. Sky Foundation has been making progress in our seed research, dollars raised and outreach.
One hundred and twenty women gathered together at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham, MI to hear the latest in pancreatic cancer research. Sky Foundation invited Alicia Smith to emcee the evening and introduce three wonderful researchers; Dr. Clare Thibodeaux (Cures Within Reach, Chicago, IL), Dr. Gazala Khan (Henry Ford Health System, Detroit, MI) and Dr. Timothy Frankel (University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI). The researchers spoke about recent trials and research updates which provided a great deal of hope for those who have encountered the disease personally.
We are celebrating our 10th year of success in 2018 and want to celebrate our donors for their support in getting us here! In honor of Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month (in November) we hold our biggest fundraiser of the year. In doing so we are throwing a “Purple Tie” evening event at The MGM Grand Detroit. We will have incredible entertainment, amazing prizes & learn astonishing updates from the researchers we fund. Please join us for an unforgettable evening that will have you leaving energized and hopeful of the change that we are making together!
