David Calver, MD Shares His Story

Gloved hand of scientist picking up a test tube

After med school (U of M), I practiced Obstetrics and Gynecology for 38 years, initially in the USAF as chief in the regional hospital in Turkey for two years, then in northern Oakland County in private practice.  Upon retirement I looked for worthwhile projects to devote my time, utilizing my background in medicine.  When  I met Sheila at a fundraising event, I thought there was no better devotion to have than to help fund/find a cure for pancreatic cancer.  Although I have not had any family members succumb to this deadly disease, I have friends who have.  In fact, I maintain that any one of us is no more than two degrees away from knowing someone who has had this disease.  Although it always seems to be too slow, we are making strides in finding the answers and Sky Foundation is at the forefront with funding the research.
